Snowshoeing in the Rockies

1/24/2015

It was a beautiful sunny Saturday at Sunshine Village. In Alberta, we are so lucky to have the beautiful Rockies just in our backyard.  Mountains loaded with unique places to explore. I've actually thought in the past: 'What is the fun on slogging up (and down) trails on snowshoes?' Just wondering why on earth people would choose this slow and arduous method of travel over the often effortless gliding down hills that can be done on skis. Well, now it's time to eat my previous words and tell you that Snowshoeing is actually AWESOME!  I love this sport and there's nothing arduous about it when you choose to go out with White Mountain Adventures for the day.

We ventured Mt.Standish (2,398m) as recommended by one of the Sunshine Village friendly staff. At first, we thought of trying the Angel Squad and see the incredible view of Lookout Moutain (2,730m). But because of its incline and distance, we agreed that we can leave that for another time! If you decide to go out and try this fun activity, dress appropriately and stay safe! Hope you like these photos.
