This was any doubt an experience of a lifetime! I have never imagined to hike overnight and see the sunrise on top of a mountain... So doing this for the first time felt pretty awesome! So grateful to have found this amazing group and a skillful and friendly organizer Michael JC. Oh! It was sooo cold and windy at the top of the summit, but the view was absolutely marvelous... with a pretty good elevation gain. So peaceful and beautiful... The route begins on a creekbed, and the start of the trail is just 250 m from the trailhead. To find it, keep left on the gravel flats and look for conspicuous cairns. The trail rises steeply in the trees with few openings to take in the beautiful Kananaskis scenery, and few level spots to catch our breath. We saw many lovely wildflowers along the way. Things get interesting when the path climbs to the top of a rocky ridge where the views really open up. After the ridge, the trail winds up a scree slope to the summit. The steepest part of the entire route is just below it. A brief ridge walk ends at the true summit. Joining this hike felt like joining a team. Looking out for each other, enjoying the beauty of life outdoors, the mountains, sharing fantastic experiences with amazing people, and taking lots of or posing for awesome pictures. I feel that I may have found my tribe... |
